A total of 51 composers from 20 countries, spanning from the USA and Brazil to Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the most frequently represented Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Serbia, Romania, Ukraine, Singapore and Hong Kong, entered the competition in two categories.

After a thorough evaluation of the submitted compositions, the jury announces the interim results of the 51st edition of the competition and appreciates all submitted compositions.

Finalists of the ‘Under 30’ Category

Composers selected to advance to the finals, which will take place in the form of a concert within the Leoš Janáček International Festival on Tuesday 16 June 2026 at the OSU Concert Hall in Ostrava:

  • Francisco Pulpillo Chiclana
  • Hajrudin Džudža
  • Jaakko Kilpeläinen
  • Jan Kotyk

All finalists are also invited to create a concept for a composition for a large symphony orchestra, which they will work on under the guidance of prominent members of the jury within the Symphonic Lab at Hukvaldy on 17 and 18 June. One of the finalists (independently of the results of the final competition) will subsequently receive a commission to complete this composition in order to have it performed within the Leoš Janáček International Festival in 2027.

Results of the ‘Under 21’ Category

Composers whose composition will be performed in fall 2026 as part of the “Hudební současnost” festival in Ostrava:

  • Emilė Riškevičiūtė – first prize (honored with 1 000 EUR)
  • Dominik Klučka – AHUV award for the best composer from the Czech Republic (15 000 CZK)
  • Periklis Sdravopoulos – honorable mention
  • Sarina Hashemi – honorable mention
